Dahaad, starring Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah and Sohum Shah, dropped its trailer on Wednesday. The series, which premiered at Berlinale 2023, appears to be a cop drama where Sinha's protagonist is chasing a serial killer accused of murdering 27 women. Vijay is playing the role of the antagonist here, with Gulshan and Sohum playing Sonakshi's colleagues. The series is described as a 'riveting game of cat and mouse between a seasoned criminal and an underdog cop' and could potentially be Amazon's Delhi Crime. Watch Dahaad trailer here: Vijay Varma recently played an abusive husband in Alia Bhatt's Darlings and was applauded for his performance. Here, he is seen playing a woman-hating serial killer who is much more evil than his Darlings' Hamza, but it remains to be seen if another negative role will bring Vijay as many accolades. Sonakshi has been quite selective about her roles in the last few years. In 2022, she was only seen in Double XL with Huma Qureshi, and in 2021, she appeared in Ajay Devgn's Bhuj: The Pride of India. Dahaad has been co-created by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, who previously created Made in Heaven. The show has been co-directed by Reema and Ruchika Oberoi. When the show premiered at Berlinale 2023, Indian Express' Shubhra Gupta said, "Dahaad is certainly a shift in genre, painting a vivid picture of a pocket of rural, caste-ridden North India, where there will be blood. After two episodes, which is what we were shown at the premiere, I'm now really curious to see how the rest of it will pan out." Produced by Excel Entertainment and and Tiger Baby, Dahaad starts streaming on May 12.
