Vikram reacts to speculations about being part of SS Rajamouli-Mahesh Babu project: ‘We have been talking about doing a film’

Post the global success of RRR, there can be no doubt that SS Rajamouli is a filmmaker that everyone wants to work with. While he is already working on a globetrotting adventure film with Mahesh Babu, which is tentatively titled SSMB 29, there have been constant speculations about the rest of the cast. Right from the time this project was finalised, there have been reports that actor Vikram has been approached to play a pivotal role in the film. In a recent media interaction in Hyderabad, ahead of the release of his much-awaited Thangalaan, Vikram was asked about any development on this front.

Without giving too much information, but just enough to keep the rumour mills spinning, Vikram said, “Rajamouli garu is a good friend. We have been talking for a while now. Of course, we will be doing a film sometime, but we haven’t zeroed in on any specifics.” Meanwhile, there have also been reports that Prithviraj Sukumaran is in talks to star as the primary antagonist in this project. With both the leads of Mani Ratnam’s Raavanan reportedly in contention for the role, the wait to see who would be part of Rajamouli’s next just got even more interesting. Aamir Khan’s name was also thrown into the mix, but there have been no official updates from the team so far.

Backed by KL Narayana, SSMB 29 is pegged to be one of the most expensive Indian films, and is expected to go on floors this year. The project will be shot across the globe, and will be written by Rajamouli’s father and veteran script writer Vijayendra Prasad.

Meanwhile, Vikram has Thangalaan set for a release on August 15, and is currently working in Chithha director SU Arun Kumar’s Veera Dheera Sooran.
