When two students uploaded a selfie video on Instagram, jokingly mentioning their favourite film star, they never imagined it would catch the attention of everyone, especially not the star himself. Yet, to their surprise, the celebrity slid into their comment section, leaving a sweet note for his fans.

On February 15, an Instagrammer and her friend shared a video, playfully stating that they wouldn’t begin studying until Vijay Deverakonda commented on it. “If Vijay Deverakonda comments on this video, then we will start preparing for our exam,” they quipped in the video. In the description, the user added, “Just in case if we fail our exams, we have an excuse to blame it on @thedeverakonda 😏.”

Two days later, they were astonished to find a comment from none other than the Liger actor himself. “Get 90%, and I will meet you,” he wrote. Not only were the two students surprised, but other users also expressed shock at the star’s kind gesture, flooding the comment section with love. Since then, his comment has received more likes than the post itself, and the video has gone viral.

Deverakonda, who made his film debut in Ravi Babu’s Nuvvila (2011), rose to fame through Tharun Bhascker’s Pelli Choopulu (2016). He further became a national sensation by playing the titular role in the Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s controversial film Arjun Reddy (2017).

However, he faced a setback in 2022 when his highly anticipated sports action film Liger, helmed by Puri Jagannadh, bombed at the box office, leading to significant criticism. The actor was last seen in Shiva Nirvana’s Kushi (2023), in which he shared the screen with Samantha. The film received mixed reviews and had an average box office performance.

Deverakonda is currently gearing up for Parasuram’s Family Star, which will reportedly hit the screens on April 5. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur in a key role.
