After the phenomenal success of his film Karthikeya 2, actor Nikhil Siddhartha is back to the big screen with his film Spy and he is thrilled to finally do a genre that he hasn’t done before. The Telugu film, which will release in other languages as well, also has an appearance by actor Rana Daggubati, and Nikhil says that the Baahubali actor has given a powerful performance.

Spy has Nikhil playing an agent, Jai. The film revolves around some important documents regarding freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and how they fall into the hands of a deadly terrorist. In an interview with indianexpress.com, Nikhil says that he wanted to do a spy film, something which he hadn’t tried yet.

“First of all I have never done a spy thriller before. That was the main reason I said yes to the film. I am a big fan of espionage thrillers. I have read quite a few books…,” Nikhil says about Spy.

Nikhil adds, “It was a dream come true when I was offered a movie like this and the best part about the story was that it wasn’t a regular one. It had so much mystery in it, it has national hero Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose who is world famous and yet not talked about enough. This film is about what he embodied, how he inspired millions of people to fight and how it presents in the story is what makes the film so special.”

The film’s trailer shows Nikhil perform some high-octane action scenes. Towards the end of the trailer, Rana makes an appearance. Nikhil, who has known Rana from their school days can’t stop raving about the latter’s performance, especially after he saw parts of what he has done in the Garry BH directorial.

“I am very thankful to Rana for accepting the film. I have known him for a long time, he was my schoolmate but he is one guy we have grown up to know that he does anything that excites him and which is crazy. He has one of the biggest franchise, Baahubali behind him and his recent series Rana Naidu was India’s most watched show. Even then, when we went to him with the story and told him that this is what we want to do, he found it crazy, he loved it,” says Nikhil, who was last seen in the film 18 Pages.

The actor continues praising Rana as he says, “The moment he heard it, he said let’s go. He came, he shot, he dubbed in his own voice. I have seen the scenes which he has done and every single word he utters gives you goosebumps. He is so perfect that I had tears in my eyes after seeing his scenes. I hope people experience the same in the theatre.”
