SS Rajamouli’s RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the lead roles, made waves not just in India but globally as well, even winning the Best Original Song Oscar for “Naatu Naatu”. On Tuesday, the makers released the trailer of RRR: Behind and Beyond, a documentary offering behind-the-scenes glimpses of the larger-than-life movie and its successful Oscar campaign.
RRR: Behind and Beyond aims to show the effort that went into the Oscar-winning film. The trailer shows the construction of massive sets to rehearsals where Ram Charan and Jr NTR practiced the iconic steps of “Naatu Naatu”. The documentary promises a detailed dive into the magic that happened on the sets of RRR. In the clip, SS Rajamouli says, “I felt like I was shooting with not one, but two tigers. RRR will remain with me for the rest of my life.” The video also captures the heartwarming camaraderie of Jr NTR and Rajamouli, with Tarak fondly referring to Rajamouli as Jakkanna.
The magnum opus, which was praised by Hollywood legends like Steven Spielberg and James Cameron, is still remembered for its captivating VFX, jaw-dropping action sequences, and intriguing narrative. Jr NTR and Ram Charan‘s roles were complemented by the cameos of Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, and Shriya Saran. Not to mention, MM Keeravaani’s music elevated the film’s grandeur, with “Naatu Naatu” making history by bagging an Oscar for Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards. Released on March 25, 2022, the film, also starring Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris, earned more than Rs 1,200 crore at the worldwide box office.
RRR: Behind and Beyond will hit select theatres on December 20.
