Ram Charan, who became a global name after RRR’s Oscar win two years ago, loves Indian food. The actor’s one meal has to be Indian, irrespective of wherever he is in the world. To attend to actor’s need, his wife and entrepreneur, Upasana Kamineni Konidela carries a cooker with her to make him his favourite food. In a recent interview, the star wife shared how his this habit became a business idea for her mother-in-law in her 60s.

“My husband has to eat Indian food wherever we are in the world. One meal has to be Indian”, Upasana told Masoom Minawala on her YouTube channel. She added, “We try our best to search for good restaurants, but there are some staples that he loves. So my mother-in-law has created these staples into ready mixes. We take a cooker wherever we go. We put it in the shower, plug it in so we don’t have fire alarm going anywhere and you have home-cooked food.”

Upasana shared how her mother-in-law, Surekha Konidela, had been preparing these ready mixes for her husband Chiranjeevi and now son, Ram Charan for ages. “So many people need homemade food because after a point, they can’t eat outside. My mother-in-law’s ready mixes are homemade and have very short shelf life so they are very fresh. It is called Atthamma’s kitchen.”

Upasana shared that her mother-in-law doesn’t need any financial independence. “What she needs is the fulfillment of what she is doing for her family… is going to other families. Feeding people makes her truly happy.”

Surekha Konidela’s business has empowered several local women of the region as well as female farmers, according to Upasana.

On the work front, Ram Charan was recently seen in the film Game Changer alongside Kiara Advani. The film, directed by S Shankar, opened to negative reviews. Now, the actor is shooting for Buchi Babu Sana’s film Peddi, also starring Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role.
