Pushpa 2 advance booking: Allu Arjun film zooms past Rs 13 crore mark, five days before release
Pushpa 2 advance booking day: Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna's action drama has already crossed Rs 10 crore in pre-release business and has sold over 4 lakh tickets.

Pushpa 2 advance booking: Though every film starring a superstar comes with the lofty ambition of becoming the highest-grossing movie of all time, or at the very least an industry hit in its respective language, this is a challenging feat that few have managed to accomplish. While some films fail to generate initial pull, others fail to sustain momentum due to an inability to impress audiences and maintain strong footfall. Yet, director Sukumar’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun in the lead role, is showing promising signs of breaking box office records. Despite having five days remaining before its worldwide release, the action drama has already crossed Rs 10 crore in pre-release business and has sold over 4 lakh tickets — a remarkable achievement.
As of 5 pm on Sunday, Pushpa 2 has grossed Rs 13.44 crore in the domestic market, with 4,20,804 tickets sold across 13,720 shows for its release day, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Interestingly, the film’s Hindi version is performing just as well as its Telugu one in both 2D and 3D formats. In Telugu, the 2D and 3D versions earned Rs 5.7 crore (1,60,794 tickets for 1,908 shows) and Rs 6.91 lakh (2,078 tickets for 71 shows), whereas the Hindi versions grossed Rs 5.20 crore (1,78,933 tickets for 8,622 shows) and Rs 1.81 crore (56,905 tickets for 2,109 shows). The Tamil and Malayalam 2D versions of the film have already grossed over Rs 12 lakh.

In Delhi, ticket prices for Pushpa 2 are soaring as high as Rs 1,800, while the most expensive tickets in Mumbai and Bengaluru are priced at Rs 1,600 and Rs 1,000, respectively. Mounted on a reported budget of over Rs 400 crore, Pushpa 2: The Rule, which will hit the screens on December 5, is the sequel to the 2021 film Pushpa: The Rise. In addition to Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari and Sunil reprise their roles from the prequel, with Jagapathi Babu and Prakash Raj joining the new cast. Pushpa: The Rise, made with an estimated budget of Rs 150 crore, grossed Rs 350.1 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk.
Not only did Pushpa: The Rise become a blockbuster, but it also earned Arjun his first National Film Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, making him the first Telugu actor to receive the honour. Given the current trajectory, it’s almost certain that Pushpa 2 will surpass its predecessors in terms of box office success. However, it remains to be seen if the film will join the ranks of the highest-grossing Indian films and potentially dethrone any of the current top five: Dangal (Rs 2,070.3 crore), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 1,788.06 crore), RRR (Rs 1,230 crore), KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 1,215 crore) and Jawan (Rs 1,160 crore).
