After days of waiting, Prabhas’ fans are in for a joyous announcement. Earlier today, Vishnu Manchu confirmed that the actor will be part of his next big outing, Kannappa. Prabhas is said to be playing Lord Shiva in the period drama. While he did not confirm the details of Prabhas’ character, his comment ‘Har Har Mahadev’ has made fans believe the actor will be seen as Lord Shiva. Earlier, the actor had played Lord Ram in Adipurush, which unfortunately did not connect too well with the audience.

On X (formerly Twitter), trade analyst Ramesh Bala posted a photo of Prabhas and Manchu and wrote about them coming together for Kannappa. Replying to him, the filmmaker wrote, “Har Har Mahadev #Kannappa” and added heart emojis.

The film is set to go on floors soon. A puja ceremony for Kannappa was organised by the team recently. Directed by Mukesh Singh, the film has been written by Paruchuri Gopalakrishna, Burra Sai Madhav and Thota Prasad. It will star Kriti Sanon’s sister, Nupur Sanon. Produced under Ava Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory, Mani Sharma and Stephen Devasi have been credited as the music composer of the epic drama.

Prabhas’ next outings

Before Kannapa, Prabhas has Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire as his next film. Also starring Shruti Hassan, it was supposed to release in September but has been postponed. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh recently posted that the film will now be released in November. However, the makers haven’t announced the new release date yet.

He wrote on X, “#BreakingNews… PRABHAS: ‘SALAAR’ TO ARRIVE IN NOV… #Salaar is NOT arriving on 28 Sept 2023, it’s OFFICIAL now… The post-production work of this #Prabhas starrer is going on in full swing… #HombaleFilms – the producers – are bringing the film in Nov 2023… New release date soon.”

The Telugu star also has Project K in the pipeline with Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and more. The much-awaited glimpse of the film was released amid much fanfare at the San Diego Comic-Con in the US.  The makers also announced its final title as Kalki 2898AD, replacing the working title. The multi-lingual ‘mytho sci-fi film’ has been directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies.

Director Nag Ashwin had earlier said in a statement, “India is the home of some of the greatest lore and superheroes ever written. We feel that our film is an attempt to bring out and share this with the world. And Comic-Con gives us the perfect stage to introduce our story to a global audience.”
