Jatadhara box office collection day 1: Sonakshi Sinha-starrer limps at the starting line, mints Rs 90 lakh on opening day

Jatadhara Box Office Collection Day 1: When it comes to box office success, this year isn’t faring well for actor Sonakshi Sinha. After the failure of her previous theatrical release, Nikita Roy, her latest film, Jatadhara, has gotten off to a rough start. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 90 lakh on its opening day, failing to even cross the Rs 1 crore mark.

Helmed by Abishek Jaiswal and Venkat Kalyan, the film had 500 Telugu shows and 490 Hindi shows across the country. Even though this was a very slow start to its theatrical run, Sonakshi’s last film, the Kussh Sinha directorial Nikita Roy, earned just Rs 22 lakh on its opening day. It ran in the theatres for merely 2 weeks, bringing in Rs 1.28 crore.

On the other hand, Sudheer Babu didn’t have any other theatrical releases in 2025, and his last film, Maa Nanna Superhero (2024), made Rs 1.04 crore at the box office through its run. His previous project, Harom Hara: The Revolt, didn’t do much better and earned Rs 3.7 crore throughout its theatrical run.

The occupancy rates averaged out at 6.04%, with the morning and afternoon shows bringing in rates of 5.17% and 4.67%. The evening and night shows filled in seats with the rates of 5.99% and 9.67%. Bogged down by poor reviews, it seems like Jatadhara will find it hard to survive in theatres.

It is also fighting for space with the Rahul Ravindran directorial The Girlfriend, starring Rashmika Mandaana and Dheekshith Shetty. Released on the same day, the film has almost the same amount of shows. Even though it earned just Rs 1.3 crore on its opening day, The Girlfriend has received much better reviews in comparison.

Directed by Abhishek Jaiswal and Venkat Kalyan, the cast of the film includes Sudheer Babu, Sonakshi Sinha, Divya Khossla, Shilpa Shirodkar, Indira Krishnan, Ravi Prakash, and Subalekha Sudhakar.
