Income Tax department conducts raids on the offices and residences of Pushpa 2 and Game Changer producers

While Pushpa 2 has collected over Rs 1700 crore worldwide, Game Changer and Sankrantiki Vasthunnam have also raked in almost Rs 400-500 crore.

While there is no doubt that the Telugu film industry is on a roll after the responses to films like Pushpa 2: The Rule, Game Changer, and Sankrantiki Vasthunnam, the same can’t be said of the makers of these films — Mythri Movie Makers and Sri Venkateswara Creations. Although, they were happy about the collections coming their way with their recent releases, today’s IT raids in the offices and houses of members of these production companies has been the news of the day in cinema circles.

The Income Tax department conducted simultaneous raids in the places affiliated to Dil Raju, his daughter Hansika Reddy, his business partner Shirish, Mythri Movie Makers’ Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar. The raids, involving over 50 teams, reportedly happened over eight locations, including their residences, offices, and other properties. The department hasn’t officially announced the reason behind the raids. However, it is to be noted that the production companies shared the budget and collections of their films on social media, and it could have prompted an investigation into these production houses that made massive numbers in recent times.

While Pushpa 2 has collected over Rs 1700 crore worldwide, Game Changer and Sankrantiki Vasthunnam have also raked in almost Rs 400-500 crore. Nevertheless, these raids might be unsettling for the industry, which has been on an upswing for a few years now. There have been no official responses from the production companies either.

On the production front, Mythri Movie Makers have announced a long line-up of films, including their sojourn into other industries like Tamil (Good Bad Ugly with Ajith Kumar), and Hindi (Jaat with Sunny Deol). On the other hand, Raju is backing a bunch of projects including ones with Anil Ravipudi, Chiranjeevi, and Venu Sriram.
