Actor Mahesh Babu is currently enjoying the success of his recently released film, Guntur Kaaram. After a strong start with Rs 41.30 crores, the film kept the cash counters ringing, earning Rs 107 crores in the first week.  However, ticket sales took a hit, and on Friday, the film earned Rs 3 crore, marking a dip of over 40 percent from Thursday’s collection of Rs 5.50 crores. The total collection in India is now Rs 110 crores, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Guntur Kaaram had an overall 24.40 percent Telugu occupancy on Friday.

Guntur Kaaram marks the third collaboration between Mahesh Babu and director Trivikram Srinivas. They previously collaborated on blockbuster hits such as Athadu and Khaleja. The makers of the film reported that the film has minted Rs 212 crores worldwide in the first week of release. It has already surpassed the lifetime worldwide collection of Mahesh Babu’s last film, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, which made Rs 188.5 crore.

The movie hit the theaters alongside four other films. However, it is now facing strong competition from Teja Sajja’s HanuMan. On the eighth day, HanuMan outperformed Guntur Kaaram by earning Rs 6 crore more than the Mahesh Babu starrer. HanuMan has made almost Rs 100 crore in India in the first eight days and it seems like it could outdo the collections of Mahesh Babu’s film.

Guntur Kaaram also stars Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishnan, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and Sreeleela in pivotal roles. Mahesh Babu was last seen in the 2022 film Sarkaru Vaari Paata.

The movie’s producer Naga Vamsi opened up about about the criticsm that the film has recieved. However, he also added that the film is a a hit and has crossed the break-even point. He said, “This is a family cinema… a Trivikram film. I’m not comparing them but it was a mistake to release a Trivikram sir film, a mother-son bond film, at 1 am. It was not a good choice.”
