Exclusive | Anushka Shetty recalls her reaction when she heard the script of Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty: ‘Deep down was hoping no one has been cast yet’

In an interview with indianexpress.com, Anushka Shetty recalls that meeting and shares how she felt about this script. She said, “Initially, when I heard the story, it was not like the director brought the story to me for me to be a part of it. We happened to meet through a common friend, and he was just narrating the story. The producers also happened to be there. Once I heard the story, I was really impressed by the story. So my first question to director Mahesh was, ‘Who are you planning to cast?'”

The actor added, “Deep down, I was hoping that no one has been cast yet. I really liked the character, and I think it is really important that you present a story of two people in a fun, light way without missing out on the layer of emotion.”

Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty revolves around Anvitha, who is a chef by profession, and Siddhu, who is a part-time stand-up comedian. The story takes a twist when the super romantic Siddhu realises that the love of his life, Anvitha, only wants him to have a child and not get married.

When the film’s title was announced, fans were amused that the title is the real surname of the actors. Anushka reveals that the idea, interestingly, came from the audience itself.

“It happens to be a coincidence that my surname is Shetty, and Naveen’s is Polishetty. The director and producers did have a few titles in mind back then. So, keeping the genre, graph and story of the movie in mind, we decided that Miss Shetty and Mr Polishetty sounds apt,” she said.

“Initially, when I had announced the project, the producers told us that fans had also commented that “It’s Miss Shetty with Mr Polishetty”. That was what I think the director had seen also, but mainly it goes with the story of two characters,” added the actor.
