Jennifer Mistry and many other former cast members of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah have opened up about the toxic work culture on the sets of the show. In a new interview, Jennifer said that since the show has a lot of child actors as cast members, shooting such difficult hours proved to be quite a hassle for them, especially during exam season.

Jennifer shared with Bollywood Bubble, “The kids were really put in a tough spot sometimes. Like if we had a night shoot, the kids would shoot at night, would study at the same time when in the morning they had an exam at 7 am. Sometimes, the kids would wrap up the shoot at 6 am and go directly to the school at 7 am.” Jenifer said that the “kids have sacrificed a lot” and added “Maybe they were okay with that treatment, maybe it was working for them.”

Jennifer also spoke about the late actor Ghanshyam Nayak, who played Nattu kaka on the show, and said that he would often break down on TMKOC sets. Jennifer clarified that she never saw producer Asit Kumarr Modi behaving badly with Ghanshyam but she witnessed Sohil Ramani, who is the production head on the show, misbehave with the senior actor.

“Sohil used to be very disrespectful towards Nattu Kaka. We have all seen him cry so many times. Monika (Bhadoriya) once told me that Nattu Kaka was crying so badly and saying that Sohil would answer for his sins. He just wanted an off and Sohil just kept pushing him,” she shared. Ghanshyam Nayak passed away in October 2021 after a long battle with cancer.

Jennifer had previously accused Sohil in creating a toxic workplace where he once tried to block her car as she was getting out of the premises of the set. She also said that the team would mentally harass her when she wanted a leave.
