Shark Tank India 3: Anupam Mittal reveals if he visits dating sites for market research

The promotional interviews of Shark Tank India Season 3 has been nothing short of a laugh riot. During an interaction with Pinkvilla, the four investors — Vineeta Singh, Anupam Mittal, Ritesh Agarwal, and Aman Gupta — ensured there was no dull moment. However the conversation about Anupam, founder of the matchmaking giant Shaadi.com — being on dating apps — had everyone buzzing.

It all began when Anupam was asked if he casually visits Shaadi.com to stay updated with the latest trends in matchmaking, what’s trending in the market, and to understand his potential customers better. He replied, “Main dating sites my jata soon (I visit dating sites).” His reply made everyone curious. Sugar Cosmetics’ CEO and co-founder Vineeta jumped in the conversation, “Wait a minute, Anupam. You can’t exactly peek into profiles on dating apps without your own profile, can you? Are you spilling some beans?”

Anupam Mittal, never one to back down from a playful banter, had a quick reply ready. “When my wife asks yahan (dating apps) pe kya kar rahe ho (What are you doing on dating apps)? I tell her it’s market research! It’s a perfectly legitimate excuse,” he added. Anupam is married to Aanchal Kumar.

When asked if he ever misused this ‘legitimate excuse,’ he quickly clarified, “Have you met my wife? Aisi chapplein marengi (she will throw slippers at me if I did that). Honestly, I am not on a dating app nor do I have any profiles there. I do not check out any profiles and do not use the platforms to do any kind of market research. I am just joking.”

Vineeta couldn’t resist a parting shot. “When Anupam says ‘Have you met my wife?’, he means she’s 10 and he’s one,” she quipped, leaving the room in stitches once more.
