Rupali Ganguly says stepdaughter’s allegations did affect her: ‘It hurts when they say bad things’
Esha Verma had accused Rupali Ganguly of abusing her and her mother - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Actress Rupali Ganguly, known for her role in Anupamaa, has been making headlines following allegations by her stepdaughter Esha Verma, who accused her of causing the breakdown of her parents’ marriage and subjecting both her and her mother to mental, emotional, and physical abuse. The issue got uglier when Esha, reportedly, called her step-brother ‘illegitimate’. Reacting to Esha’s statements, Rupali slapped her with a legal notice for defamation, demanding Rs 50 crore as damages. Now, in a interaction, Rupali has reacted to the controversy.
She told Instant Bollywood, “If I say it doesn’t affect, it will be a lie. Of course, it affects. We are all human beings. It hurts when they say bad things even behind my back. Those who love me will continue to do so. I believe in doing good deeds, because then good things will happen to you now or in the future. Sometimes a bad phase does come, and bad things do happen, but good always wins over that.”

In the legal notice, Rupali had also claimed to have treated Esha well whenever she visited India. It even stated that the Anupamaa actress offered Esha to break into the entertainment industry under her and Ashwin’s guidance. The notice further stated that Rupali even arranged for various photoshoots and auditions for Esha.
Earlier in an exclusive interview with SCREEN, Esha Verma had called Rupali Ganguly an ugly person inside out and said, “Rupali is 20 years younger than my father, she was an adult. She knows that if a man is married, you stay away especially when they have kids. I and my mother were still in the picture. It was an obsession, not love. She would constantly call him, send messages, and spam his phone. Once Rupali started hitting my mother and verbally abusing her in English and Bengali. I was only 8 or 9 at that time, and I was scared (gets emotional). I didn’t know what to do. I had to scream and pick up an object to threaten Rupali.”
Following this ugly public spat, Esha deleted her videos and made her account private. She even stopped talking about the matter. Rupali too had not commented on this until now.
