Rupali Ganguly slaps stepdaughter Esha Verma with Rs 50 crore legal notice, lawyer Sana Raees Khan reacts: ‘No one should have to endure…’

In the last few days, actor Rupali Ganguly made headlines after her step daughter Esha Verma (from her husband Ashwin Verma’s second marriage) made strong allegations against her. While Rupali had not reacted to any accusations made by Esha, her husband Ashwin had issued a clarification on X. Now, after Esha released a video statement on Instagram, Rupali slapped her with a legal notice, seeking Rs 50 crore in damages. SCREEN exclusively spoke to Rupali’s lawyer Sana Raees Khan about this action.

Supporting Rupali, Sana exclusively told SCREEN, “Her choice to issue a defamation notice reflects her commitment to standing up against falsehoods and protecting her reputation, which she has worked tirelessly to build over the years. No one should have to endure baseless accusations, especially when they are made to harm one’s personal and professional image.”

The legal notice asserts that Esha’s charges against Rupali have irreparably damaged her public image. The notice also states that Esha intruded into a sensitive matter and maligned Rupali’s character and personal life. It has also been reported that Rupali Ganguly proceeded with legal action after Esha made some strong remarks about Rupali and Aswhin’s son Rudransh calling him ‘illegitimate’.

In the legal notice, Rupali has also claimed to have treated Esha well whenever she visited India. Rupali also claims to have offered Esha to break into the entertainment industry under her and Ashwin’s guidance. The notice also claims that Rupali even arranged for various photoshoots and auditions for Esha occasionally.

Earlier in an exclusive interview with SCREEN, Esha Verma had said, “Rupali is 20 years younger than my father, she was an adult. She knows that if a man is married, you stay away especially when they have kids. I and my mother were still in the picture. It was an obsession, not love. She would constantly call him, send messages, and spam his phone. Once Rupali started hitting my mother and verbally abusing her in English and Bengali. I was only 8 or 9 at that time, and I was scared (gets emotional). I didn’t know what to do. I had to scream and pick up an object to threaten Rupali.”

Esha added, “I had called my father on Father’s Day and Rupali was screaming at the top of her lungs, ‘How dare you call him, watch what I do to you when you come to India.’ I do admit that she cornered me when my mother came again to visit in Mumbai and I wanted my parents to meet.”

Esha has deleted her video statement and also locked her profile.
