Matthew Perry’s Fools Rush In co-star Salma Hayek pens tribute for him: ‘My friend, you are gone much too soon’
Two days after Matthew Perry's death, Salma Hayek remembered her old friend and Fools Rush In co-star in a heartfelt note on Instagram.

The world was left shocked as Matthew Perry, better known for his role as Chandler Bing in Friends, passed away at his Los Angeles home. Initial reports suggest that the actor, 54, died due to apparent drowning in a hot tub. Two days later, acclaimed actor Salma Hayek took to Instagram to pay her heartfelt tribute to her old friend and Fools Rush In co-star. She remembered their friendship as she lamented his untimely death.
Sharing a few throwback photos, Salma wrote, “Two days ago, I woke up to the shocking news that Matthew Perry is no longer with us. It’s taken me a couple of days to process this profound sadness. There is a special bond that happens when you share dreams with someone, and together you work towards them. I was very moved last year when Matthew shared on his Instagram stories how much he loved ‘Fools Rush In,’ and how he thought that that film we did together was probably his best movie. Throughout the years, he and I found ourselves reminiscing about that meaningful time in our lives with a deep sense of nostalgia and gratitude.”
She ended her note with a sweet message that read, “My friend, you are gone much too soon, but I will continue to cherish your silliness, your perseverance, and your lovely heart. Farewell, sweet Matthew, we will never forget you.”

Sometime back, Matthew Perry had conducted an AMA session on Instagram where he had spoken about his ‘best movie’ Fools Rush In. A fan had asked him ‘if playing Chandler was his most treasured role’, and to this, he replied, “I did a movie that I love called Fools Rush In with @salmahayek – that was probably my best movie (Sic).” Salma Hayek shared a screenshot of the same on her post.
Matthew Perry’s Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer released an emotional statement recently about the loss of their dear friend, who they called ‘family’.
“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world,” the statement read.
Earlier, the show makers also paid their tribute to Perry via a statement. “It still seems impossible,” the show’s principle creative team, Marta Kauffman, David Crane and Kevin Bright, said in a joint statement on Sunday. “All we can say is that we feel blessed to have had him as part of our lives.”
