KBC 16: Emotional Amitabh Bachchan promises to pay for contestant Nareshi Meena’s brain tumor treatment, says ‘I want to…’

In the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, Amitabh Bachchan's eyes welled up after he learned about a contestant's struggles to get expensive brain tumor treatment.

Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 went on air earlier this month. While none of the contestant has managed to hit the jackpot, the show has been serving emotional moments regularly. During the latest episode, host Amitabh Bachchan was seen getting overwhelmed after learning about a contestant’s serious illness. The actor also promised to support Rajasthan-based Nareshi Meena with her medical treatment.

Nareshi Meena, 27, hails from Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan. She told Big B that she was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2018 and underwent surgery for the same in 2019. However, since the tumor is in a critical place, it could not be removed completely. While her mother sold off all her jewelry for Nareshi’s operation, the young girl now came on the show to win prize money for her treatment. Nareshi also shared that now she has been recommended to undergo Proton Therapy, an expensive treatment that costs around Rs 25 to 30 lakhs.

While her story made Amitabh Bachchan quite emotional, Big B promised to try his best to support her expenses for the proton therapy. He said, “Mujhe aapka sahayak banna hai (I want to support you) and now whatever amount you win from the show will be yours. Be rest assured about your treatment.”

Amitabh Bachchan also lauded Nareshi’s courage and said, “Badi himmat honi chahiye ek mahila mein, sarvajanik roop se yeh baat karna. Aapke dhairya ke liye aapko bohot bohot dhanyawaad karte hai. (A woman needs a great deal of courage to publically speak about this. I salute your spirit). I have realised that you are sure that you will win the amount and you are quite positive about the treatment. Now, don’t worry about the medical expense.”

Nareshi is currently still on the hot seat and has won Rs 3.2 lakh. She will be seen playing the game in the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 where she will be seen attempting the Rs 1 crore question.
