Reality quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), hosted by veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, has returned with its seventeenth season. The new edition opened with a celebration, marking 25 successful years of the show. In Wednesday’s episode, Delhi-based contestant Kashish, a mathematics graduate, took the hot seat and walked away with Rs 50 lakh after failing to answer the Rs 1 crore question. Amitabh congratulated her, noting that her winnings were enough to help repay her father’s debt.

The question was, “Which king of the Visigoths demanded pepper, which ancient Rome typically traded from India, as ransom to lift a siege on the city?” The options for the correct answer were – A) Ludovic, B) Aymeric, C) Alaric, and D) Theodoric. Kashish had only one lifeline left, so she used the ‘Sanket Suchak,’ which she had earned during the Super Sandook round. However, she was still unable to answer the question related to Ancient Rome.

Amitabh Bachchan advised Kashish not to rely on guesswork, as it could backfire. After deliberating for a few minutes, the young contestant decided to quit and walked away with her assured prize money of Rs 50 lakh. The correct answer was option C – Alaric. Kashish not only managed to impress Amitabh Bachchan but also shared her emotional family background, which left everyone teary-eyed.

The upcoming KBC special episode for Independence Day will welcome Col Sofiya Qureshi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, and Commander Prerna Deosthalee as special guests. They played an important role in press conferences on Operation Sindoor.

Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 airs on Sony TV at 9 pm from Monday to Friday, and it is also available to watch digitally on the SonyLIV app.
