While producer JD Majethia‘s latest show Kuch Reet Jagat Ki Aisi Hai is a serious affair, his banner Hatsoff Productions is known for backing popular comedy shows. Be it the hit show Khichdi or the iconic Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Majethia and Aatish Kapadia have kept the legacy alive with extensions to their shows whether as films or as a new season on OTT space. Recently, Majethia shared with Indianexpress.com if he plans to make Season 3 of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai.

Considering Sarabhai vs Sarabhai Take 2 ended on a cliffhanger where Monisha leaves Sahil and goes to Delhi with her son, Majethia was asked if there would be a new season coming up. The producer said, “It is very much in mind, but for it to be on paper, there needs to be some wow factor. So if you all pray, something should come up, but Sarabhai 3 is very much on the cards.”

Sarabhai vs Sarabhai season 1 aired on TV in 2004, while season 2 streamed on Disney Plus Hotstar in 2017.

JD Majethia also spoke about Khichdi being extended into a film. Sharing that they went wrong with the release date for Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukistan, Majethia reflected on the movie’s failure.

JD Majethia said, “We went wrong choosing the release date for the film. We released it on a weekend when Sunday was the World Cup finals. For any small-budget film, Sunday business is very important, but for us, it was a complete washout. Secondly, our film fell prey to piracy. Many of my relatives called me and said they had seen the film at home. My office peon informed me that he saw the video a week before it was released. Piracy killed Khichdi.”

Majethia added, “It was not a big film, but still this film will work for 10 years on small screen because people don’t want to spend money on a film like this. Still, we made a decent collection, it closed near the budget. Two weeks after Khichdi, Animal was released, so we had no screens. We just want people to see the film, not only in the theatre but even otherwise.”
