Chashni actor Jatin Singh Jamwal opens up about casting couch experience with popular OTT casting director: ‘He said this is how it works’

He further opened up about his experience and shared an incident that left him disturbed for many days. He shared, “There is a well known casting director who work for OTT shows. I called him once and gave him a reference of someone we both knew. He texted me on WhatsApp and asked for a selfie and I did it. Jise kaam chaiye, wo har tarah se haath pair maarta hai (The person who needs work would try their level best). The casting agent further texted to ask ki shaam ko kya kar rahe ho? (What are you doing this evening?) and fixed a meeting. We met at the coffee shop. Hum normally baithe hain (we were normally sitting) and that casting director put his hands on my lap. I did not know how to react in a public place. I tried explaining him that you are taking things in a wrong way and I am not comfortable with this, his reponse was ‘yahan aise hi hota hai’ (This is how it works in here). And I ran away.”

Jatin shared another incident when a casting director asked him to “send a picture in underwear” and he was “shocked.” He shared, “The (casting) director asked me to send a picture in underwear and I was shocked. But I was still new to the industry and did not realise that the demand was completely inappropriate and sent him the photo. Soon after, he stopped replying to me and when I discussed it with my friends and colleagues, I got to know that this is very common here.”

Jatin then shared that this incident affected him and ended up feeling helpless. “I really cried at home, feeling helpless for days. I could not get the project I really wanted to do because I did not comply to his demands.”
