One of the most loved crime shows on Indian TV, CID, is set to return with its latest season and actor Aditya Srivastava, best known for playing Abhijeet on the thriller, says the cast and crew are “pumped” to be back again.

Makers of the iconic show CID have decided to revive the show and announced the news with a brief teaser on Thursday, which featured the show’s beloved stars Shivaji Satam (ACP Pradyuman), Dayanand Shetty (Daya) and Aditya Srivastava.

In an interview with Times of India, Aditya Srivastava said the cast is excited to shoot for the show, which aims to go on air in December. The actor said as of now, the cast has only shot for a promo–which will be unveiled on October 26–with the full-fledged shoot of the Sony TV show beginning soon.

The actor hoped that the audience showers the same love on CID, which returns to the small screen after a hiatus of six years. Srivastava said there were talks in the past as well to bring back the show but nothing worked out until recently.

“This time around the channel wanted it back on TV as it has been one of the most watched and loved shows. Things worked out and Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty and I came on board. We are emotionally connected with this show,” he added.

The actor said even though he has been a part of more than 20 films, the audience still recognises him as Abhijeet from CID, making him feel special and validating the fact that he could leave an impact on the viewers with his role, even after it went off air.

CID began airing in 1998 and its last episode aired in 2018. Earlier, in an interaction with Friday Talkies, Shivaji Satam suggested that CID went off air after a successful 20-year run, possibly due to a rift between the show’s producer and the channel.
