Actor-writer Ashutosh Kaushik became one of the first reality TV stars in India who won MTV Roadies and later solidified his reality star status by winning Bigg Boss. In a recent chat, Ashutosh said that he could not even read his contract for Bigg Boss before signing the show.

Ashutosh said on Josh Talks, “I went to the production house of Bigg Boss and they asked me what I will do in the Bigg Boss house and I gave my answers and came back. I used to wait near their office and after 15 days they gave me the agreement and told me to sign the contract after reading it. They did not know I cannot read. I asked them if I could change the terms after reading it. They said ‘no’ and I asked ‘where do I need to sign?’”

He added, “After signing, they gave me two briefcases, my signing amount and my weekly amount. That’s how I reached Bigg Boss. The audience’s love made this dhaba wala the winner of Bigg Boss.” Towards the end of the chat, he revealed that he has come a long way and now holds a law degree. “I didn’t know how to read the agreement, but today I am ‘Advocate Ashutosh Kauhsik. I have done my LLB,” he said.

Kaushik said he has no regrets about not knowing how to read. He mentioned that there was a time when he didn’t know how to give autographs. He said, “I was that guy who did not know how to give an autograph. People in metro trains asked me for my autograph and I told them ‘take my fingerprint, what will you do with the autograph.’ One night I learnt how to give an autograph and made a few copies and kept them with me, and then I would distribute it to anyone who asked for an autograph.”

The actor made his Bollywood debut with Vivek Oberoi and Mallika Sherawat’s Kismat Love Paisa Dilli in 2012. He was last seen in the 2016 film  Chal Jaa Bapu.
