Over the years, the biggest Bollywood stars have promoted their respected films on the long-running police procedural show CID. And in a new interview, the show’s cast recalled stories about working with the likes of Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, albeit briefly.

In an interview with Laksh Maheshwari on YouTube, actor Dayanand Shetty, who played Daya on the show, spoke about the professionalism that the movie stars brought to the project. This is the key to their success, he said. “We realised why they’re such big stars when we worked with them. They’re hard-working and professional. Akshay Kumar was on set before us in the morning; he was preparing for a stunt that he was supposed to do.”

He shot for four days, and was a part of the whole story.” Aamir promoted his 2012 film Talaash on the show; he played a cop in the film, directed by Reema Kagti. “Salman Khan began collaborating with CID with Wanted, and made sure to promote his films on the show,” Dayanand said.

CID ran for 20 years between 1998 and 2018, emerging as one of the strongest television brands in Indian TV history. Over 1,500 episodes were telecast in total, making its stars household names. Cast member Dinesh Phadnis, who played the role of Fredericks on the show, died at the age of 57.
