Abhishek Bajaj is one of the contestants on Bigg Boss 19, hosted by Salman Khan. The actor, who has previously worked in films like Student Of The Year 2, Tamannaah Bhatia’s Babli Bouncer, and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, is all set to take on a new challenge with the Salman Khan-hosted reality show. Before entering the house, Abhishek spoke to SCREEN and recalled how he did not discuss this opportunity with his good friends Karanveer Mehra and Vivian Dsena.

On choosing to participate in Bigg Boss 19

Abhishek Bajaj has been offered the show three or four times in the past. Sharing why he agreed to do it this year, the actor said, “I have done everything in my career; the only thing that was left was a reality show. I wanted to explore something new because, at times, you get bored with what you’re doing and feel the need to change the dynamics. That’s why I decided to go ahead with this. I have been approached for this show three to four times before. Back then, I wanted to establish myself as an actor, so I didn’t think about it seriously. But this is the right time.”

On his personality

Abhishek Bajaj calls himself fun and loving but acknowledges that his personality has many different shades. Talking about the same, he said, “I am a fun-loving guy, courageous, disciplined, resilient. I rap, I write poetry, so you will see lots of one-liners coming from me. 90 percent of the time, I am calm, 10 percent anyone can get angry. I am a Punjabi; we are hot-blooded. I cannot tolerate any kind of disrespect.”

On his Bigg Boss 19 audition

The Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui actor also revealed how he met with the makers of Bigg Boss multiple times. While his first meeting ended in 90 minutes, the next round went on for two and a half hours. “My first meeting with the makers went on for around 90 minutes. They kept laughing and were happy to know about me. My second meeting with them was 2.5 hours long. We met 3-4 times, so a lot of conversations happened because I was setting my mind. I was asking them why they wanted me on the show. I have not followed the show religiously, so I was preparing myself mentally. I was also approached for another reality show, but I was weighing the options and found this to be better.”

On his friendship with Vivian Dsena and Karanveer Mehra

When asked if he discussed this opportunity with others, Abhishek Bajaj mentioned that Karanveer Mehra and Vivian Dsena are his good friends, but he didn’t speak to them about his participation in Bigg Boss 19. “I haven’t discussed the show with anyone. Karanveer Mehra and Vivian Dsena are in my football group. We just met last Sunday, but we didn’t speak about this. They are different people, and it’s their journey. If I ask them, it will reflect differently. I want to keep it my own.”
