Nivin Pauly's character claims to be more than 8000 years old in Ram's directorial venture.

Director Ram, best known for his debut film Katradhu Tamizh, is back with Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai which is reminiscent of his first movie. Here too an unkept but intriguing protagonist is in search of his lost love. However, unlike Katradhu Tamizh, which was a realistic tragedy, Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai comes across as a supernatural drama about a protagonist who is traversing across centuries to find his love.

Nivin Pauly is a vagabond in a tattered long coat, who seems to be more than what he comes across as. A fellow passenger (played by Soori), who reminds one of Karunas’ character from Katradhu Tamizh, is in disbelief when he hears that Nivin’s character has been living for 8822 years. It is up to the audience to decide whether the protagonist is sane or not. He also tells his love (played by Anjali) that when he first saw her, she was a queen.

The intriguing film is all set to premiere at the Big Screen Competition at The International Film Festival, Rotterdam. Ram last directed Mammootty in Peranbu, which was released back in 2019. It also premiered at the Rotterdam film festival. Anjali, who is a frequent collaborator with Ram, has teamed up with the director yet again for the movie. She has acted in the director’s Kattradhu Tamizh, Taramani, and Peranbu.

Nivin Pauly, who has been laying low for the past few months, seems to be getting his mojo back. He recently released a funny promo for his upcoming film Malayalee From India.
