H Vinoth confirms helming Thalapathy 69, Vijay’s last film before his political entry: ‘200 per cent Thalapathy film’
At an awards ceremony on Thursday, Vinoth confirmed that he was indeed directing Vijay in the film, which is tentatively referred to as Thalapathy 69

With just days left for the release of GOAT, Vijay’s film with director Venkat Prabhu, it is expected that the fans are jubilant. However, they are also having mixed feelings because with GOAT hitting the screens, there will be just one more Vijay film in the offering before the superstar turns all his attention on Tamil Nadu politics. In an earlier announcement, Vijay shared that his next film would be his last film before entering into active politics. While there were speculations that director H Vinoth, who helmed the Ajith-starrers Nerkonda Paarvai, Valimai and Thunivu, was roped in to direct Vijay’s swansong, there were no official announcements. However, at an awards ceremony on Thursday, Vinoth confirmed that he was indeed directing Vijay in the film, which is tentatively referred to as Thalapathy 69.

When asked if this would be a political film considering Vijay’s impending entry into politics, Vinoth said, “This will be a 200 percent Thalapathy film. When I committed this film, he said that the project should appeal to people of all ages and across the political spectrum.” Reiterating that Thalapathy 69 will be a proper commercial film, Vinoth said, “The film wouldn’t be targeting any political leader or a political party. It will be an 100 percent commercial film.”
Through this project, Vinoth joins the very small list of present-day filmmakers who have directed both Ajith and Vijay. Talking about a facet each about these stars, Vinoth said, “Ajith sir is an abstract thinking individual, and Vijay sir is a simple thinking individual.”

The Venkat Prabhu directorial also stars Prashanth, Sneha, Laila, Prabhudeva, Ajmal, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and Jayaram among others.
Backed by AGS Entertainment, the trailer of GOAT is expected to be released on August 17 at 5 pm.
