Thalaivar 171: Sun Pictures confirms Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj film

It is confirmed that Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj are coming together for a film, which is tentatively titled Thalaivar 171.

The speculations have turned out to be true! Ever since Vikram was released, there were rumours that Rajinikanth plans to team up with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for a film. Now, Sun Pictures, which is basking in the success of Jailer, is teaming up with Rajinikanth once again. Lokesh, who is busy wrapping up the post-production of Leo, will direct Rajinikanth in the film.

The official Twitter handle of Sun Pictures confirmed the news. Anirudh Ravichander, who has worked with Lokesh in Vikram and Leo, is composing the music for the upcoming movie as well. Anirudh also delievered a hit album and background score for Rajini’s last film Jailer.

Other than Anirudh, stunt choreographer duo Anbu-Arivu has been roped in for the film. Other details of the movie will be announced soon.

While Rajinikanth will next shoot for a film with director TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim fame, Lokesh Kanagaraj has Leo, Kaithi 2 and Vikram 2 in the pipeline. It is said that Leo and Thalaivar 171 are also part of Lokesh Cinematic Universe, which will bring together all the superstars of Tamil cinema.

Meanwhile, Sun Pictures is celebrating the immense success of Jailer, which is set to cross the Rs 400 crore mark at the Indian box office. Kalanithi Maran, the owner of Sun Pictures, recently gifted luxury cars to Rajinikanth, Nelson Dilipkumar, and Anirudh Ravichander for making the film a blockbuster. He also hosted a success meet and gave away gold coins to people who worked in Jailer.
