Tamil Nadu government allows five shows for Suriya’s Kanguva; Siva film to have 4 am shows in neighbouring states
Kanguva will have shows early as 4 am in other states, including Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, and 9 am in Tamil Nadu.

Kanguva, Suriya’s maiden collaboration with director Siva, is set to hit screens worldwide on Thursday, November 14. The film, backed by KE Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green banner, is billed to be one of the most expensive Tamil films. With just two days left for the release, the Tamil Nadu government gave a much-needed reprieve for the makers of Kanguva by allowing the film to have special shows in the state.
The government relaxed the rules and allowed Kanguva to have a special 9 am show, and a fifth show that can end at 2 am. This means that Kanguva can have five shows per day. In addition to this relaxation, the government also urged that the theatres screening Kanguva must provide the required safety and security arrangement for its patrons. Incidentally, the film is said to have shows as early as 4 am in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala.
This isn’t a new phenomenon as Tamil films, over the past 18-20 months, have not been having the early morning shows the state was once known for. After an accident during the festive releases in Pongal 2023, Tamil Nadu government stopped allowing the early shows. However, this has lead to discontent among the Tamil Nadu exhibitors and distributors since Tamil films are being released in other states at an earlier time.
In addition, Kanguva is also facing a bunch of legal issues where the makers are facing financial difficulties owing to the money they owe to a few people. Fans are hoping that the makers will sort this out at the earliest to facilitate a smooth release for the film on Thursday.
With music by National award-winning Devi Sri Prasad, editing by the late Nishad Yusuf, and cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy, Kanguva stars Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Yogi Babu, and Redin Kingsley in pivotal roles. Kanguva will be a two-part film with speculations that the first part will also feature Karthi in a special role.
