Tamil series Suzhal: The Vortex has been renewed for a second season, becoming one of the few Tamil web series to attain the feat. Tamil web series space is still in its nascent stage, and series like Suzhal and Vadhandhi are only flashes in the pan. However, the renewal of Suzhal has brought excitement to fans not just in Tamil Nadu, but across the country, as the series became an instant hit upon release last year.

Featuring the talented Gouri Kishan, Aishwarya Rajesh, Lal, Saravanan, and Kathir, the first season dealt with the mystery surrounding a missing girl in a village in the hinterlands of Tamil Nadu. Amazon Prime Video India confirmed the release of Suzhal Season 2, which will bring back the star cast, also featuring Manjima Mohan, Monisha Blessy, and Samyuktha Vishwanathan.

In this new season, Suzhal shifts its narrative focus to the Ashtakaali festival in Kaalipattanam, which brings a new mystery to the village which harbours a lot of dark secrets. Kathir returns to reprise his role as the determined cop, tasked with unraveling the mystery behind the murder of senior activist lawyer Chellappa.

Produced by Wallwatcher Films, Suzhal Season 2 is helmed by the creative duo Gayatri and Pushkar, who are known for their film Vikram Vedha. Bramma and Sarjun are directing the series.
