Actor Suriya is all set to bring his period actioner Kanguva to the big screen. The film also stars Bobby Deol as an antagonist, and Disha Patani in an important role. At the recently held press conference in Mumbai for the film, the actor praised Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan.
At the event, when Suriya was referred to as a superstar, he was prompt to correct that this title only belongs to Rajinikanth. “I am not a superstar, Rajini sir is. There can only be one superstar and it’s him.”
He later revisited his 27 years in the industry and shared how Aamir Khan put him on the map. Suriya said, “I never thought I would be in the film industry, even till five days before I faced the camera and despite my dad being in the industry. I am thankful for all the love and it all started with Aamir (Khan) sir talking to the media about me, telling them that I was the one who starred in the original version of Ghajini. He introduced me to the entire fraternity and media all over the country. Sincere thanks to him for putting my name on the map. Ghajini and Singham were very important films to me.”

Talking about working with Bobby Deol in Kanguva, Suriya shared that the actor signed on for the film even before Animal. He shared, “Whenever I feel scared, I dive into it. It was not easy to stand in front of Bobby sir and challenge him. I had to gather all my courage and conviction to stand in front of him. It’s been 27 years, and I am thankful to all my directors for making me relevant.”
