Suriya on loving Fahadh Faasil’s Rangan chettan from Aavesham and Mammooty’s choice of films
In the Dubai leg of promotions for Kanguva, Suriya spoke about his recent favourites in Malayalam cinema, and praised Mammootty for being an inspiration

Suriya is leaving no stone unturned in the promotional activities for his upcoming film, Kanguva. The ambitious big-budget entertainer, helmed by Siva, is one of the most expensive Indian films, and is being released in multiple languages on November 14. This has pushed Suriya into a mode that hasn’t been seen in the recent past. The actor is doing a whirlwind tour of promotions to ensure that the film received maximum reach among the global audience for Indian films.
Suriya, who was shuttling between various Indian cities, is now currently in Dubai for the latest leg of promotions. During an interview with Dubai-based radio channel Gold 101.3 FM, Suriya was asked about a recent Malayalam film that he quite liked, and wished he played the titular role.
While Suriya didn’t really evince interest in playing the role, he immediately shared his unbridled love for the talent of Fahadh Faasil and the phenomenon of Aavesham. “I liked the film a lot. I loved Fahadh Faasil in the role. It is brilliant how he is surprising the audience with every film. Walking into a Fahadh Faasil film, you are never sure what you are going to get,” said Suriya, who extended his admiration for Mammootty too.
Talking about the legend of Indian cinema, Suriya said, “Look at Mammukka and his choice of wonderful films like Kaathal, etc… As an actor, he is still striving to find ways to entertain the audience.” The Jai Bhim actor also expressed his respect towards Mammootty for not taking things for granted despite being such a senior actor. “Even now he is trying to not just entertain, but also pushing the bar for himself and the cinema industry. I have a lot of respect for him.”
