Ponniyin Selvan star Jayam Ravi confirms separation from wife Aarti after 15 years of marriage: ‘I’ve taken the difficult decision to…’

Jayam Ravi and wife Aarti have announced separation.

When Jayam Ravi released a press statement just a day ahead of his 44th birthday, no one would have expected that it would be for a solemn news. But, on Monday, Ravi announced he was separating from his wife Aarti. In a statement shared on his social media handles, Ravi said that the ‘dissolution of his marriage with Aarti’ was finalised, and requested the media and fans to respect their privacy and sentiments.

He wrote, “Life is a journey filled with various chapters, each presenting its own opportunities and challenges. As many of you have followed my journey both on and off screen with utmost love and support, I have always strived to be as transparent and honest with my fans and the media as much as possible. It is with a heavy heart that I must share a deeply personal update with all of you. After much thought, reflections and discussions, I have taken the difficult decision to proceed with the dissolution of my marriage with Aarti.”

Asserting that the decision wasn’t made out of haste, Ravi assured that this was due to personal reasons, and in the best interests of everyone involved. “In light of this, I hereby kindly request all of you to respect our privacy as well as that of our family members during this difficult time and appeal to all of you to refrain from making any assumptions, rumours, or allegations in this regard and let the matter remain private,” said Ravi.

Talking about training the focus on his career, Ravi wrote, “”My priority has always remained the same – to continue bringing joy and entertainment through my films to my dearest audience. I am still and will always be your Jayam Ravi – who is cherished by all of you throughout my career and as an actor who is dedicated to my craft and commitment to showcase the best of my talent. Your constant support means the world to me and I am grateful for the love you have showered on me over the years.”

Rumours of this separation were doing the rounds when Aarti had deleted photos of them as a couple on her Instagram page. The couple, who got married in 2009 have two sons, Aarav and Ayaan.

On the work front, Jayam Ravi is currently waiting for the release of M Rajesh’s Brother, which is expected to hit the screens on October 31 for Diwali. He also has Thani Oruvan 2 in the pipeline.
