Leo box office collection Day 23: Vijay-starrer faces competition against Jigarthanda DoubleX, mints Rs 596.7 crore
Leo box office collection Day 23: Vijay's film has started seeing a downward trend in its earnings after Karthik Subbaraj's Jigarthanda DoubleX released in theatres on November 10.

Tamil superstar Vijay‘s Leo has been ruling the box office for over three weeks now. But now, as it nears the end of its theatrical run, the box office collections seem to be drying up. The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial, on its 23rd day in the theatres, earned Rs 50 lakh, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. This takes the film’s domestic box office collection to Rs 335.65 crore.
After the release of Karthik Subbaraj’s Jigarthanda DoubleX, Leo only has 81 shows in Chennai now and the film saw only 35.33% occupancy in this region on Friday. Karthik Subbaraj’s new directorial has earned Rs 1.61 crore on its opening day.
Leo’s worldwide collection currently stands at Rs 596.7 crore, which is just a few crores away from Rajinikanth’s Jailer collection, which was Rs 604 crore. Leo is currently the third highest Tamil grosser of all time after Rajinikanth’s 2.0 and Jailer.
Leo released in cinema halls on October 19. However, the film has been surrounded by controversy even before it released. The actor did not promote his film after the audio launch of the film was cancelled. However, Vijay, at the film’s success meet addressed some of its controversies. He urged the audience to look at the film objectively, rather than personally.
He said, “I plead with all of you to look at a film as a film. If you look, all around the world, cinema is seen as something artificial and a form of entertainment. In that cinema, there will be a good guy and a bad guy. To differentiate between these two, there are a few things that are done… see I don’t have to explain this all to you. I know that you all know it already.”
