Leo box office collection day 15: Vijay-starrer crosses Rs 553 crore worldwide, can beat Rajinikanth’s Jailer record with this number
Leo box office collection day 15: Vijay-starrer Leo is aiming to surpass Jailer's collection of Rs 604 crore. The film has already made Rs 553.7 crore worldwide.

Vijay-starrer Leo has been in the theatres for 15 days now and while the film started its box office journey with a bang, the collections dropped significantly in the second week. On the 15th day, the Lokesh Kanagaraj film made Rs 2.9 crore nett in the domestic market, taking its nett domestic collections to Rs 317.85 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.
In Chennai, Leo still has 638 shows with an occupancy rate of 24.25%. The film’s worldwide gross collections currently stand at Rs 553.7 crore and it appears that Leo might take over Jailer’s box office collection. Rajinikanth’s Jailer, which released in theatres in August made a whopping Rs 604 crore worldwide. To surpass Jailer’s collection, Leo still has to make Rs 50.3 crore.
Set in the LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe), Leo has emerged as the most successful film of both Vijay and Lokesh’s career. It is also the third highest Tamil grosser of all time behind Jailer and 2.0.
The success meet of Leo was held on Wednesday and saw Vijay in attendance. Since the audio launch of the film was cancelled, this was the first time that the audience got to hear from the star for this film. Leo was surrounded in controversy ever since its first poster came out, which showed the lead character with a cigarette. Vijay addressed the controversy around the song ‘Naa Varava’ at the success meet of the film and said, “There was this song that created a lot of controversy. There was one line, ‘Viraluku eddukula thee pandham (torch between the fingers).’ Why do you imagine it is a cigarette? Think of it as a powerful pen. Then there was the line: ‘Quarter pathathu tandava konda (Quarter is not enough. Bring out the giant vessel). Why do you think it is alcohol? Think of it as koozhu (porridge).’ I can come up with such a flimsy answer to it all, but I don’t want to do it. I plead with all of you to look at a film as a film. If you look, all around the world, cinema is seen as something artificial and a form of entertainment. In that cinema, there will be a good guy and a bad guy. To differentiate between these two, there are a few things that are done… see I don’t have to explain this all to you. I know that you all know it already.”
Leo also stars Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Mysskin, Sandy and Gautham Menon in significant roles.
