Karthi gets emotional as he bids adieu to Ponniyin Selvan team: ‘Hope I don’t cry’

The Ponniyin Selvan films went on floors in December 2019 and were wrapped up in 2021. The team got together again for promotions the following years and they travelled as a gang across the country to cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Trichy. Pictures of the camaraderie of the film’s cast during the tour this year are making the rounds of social media. And, now, with Ponniyin Selvan 2 releasing tomorrow, all of it has come to an end and the team has to finally say goodbye to each other. It was hard for Karthi to part ways with his colleagues of four years and he was seen getting emotional at the Mumbai press meet of PS 2.

Due to other commitments, Karthi had to leave his team back in Mumbai, and when asked to say a few words before wrapping up his Ponniyin Selvan 2 promotions, Karthi was rendered speechless. “Hope I don’t cry. It is emotional to say bye byes, and it is wonderful being with you guys,” he said. Jayam Ravi quickly walked across the stage to give him a hug and Aishwarya Rai was also seen consoling the Tamil actor.

In Ponniyin Selvan, Karthi plays the role of Vallavarayan Vandhiyathevan, a brave warrior of the Vanaar clan. Karthi’s performance in Ponniyin Selvan 1 was unanimously praised by the audience and critics. The readers of Ponniyin Selvan also claimed that Karthi brought to life their favourite character and no one could have topped his performance.

Karthi will again be returning in Ponniyin Selvan 2, and his journey as a spy/messenger will continue. Along with Ponniyin Selvan (Jayam Ravi), Vandhiyathevan will also reach Chola Desam in the second part, in which the Vaanar clan’s hero has more to do.
