Suriya-starrer Kanguva, which released in theatres on Thursday, has been receiving some criticism from the audience for the loud background score of the film. Audience has complained that the film is excessively loud and now the film’s producer Gnanavel Raja, has addressed these concerns. The producer said that he has had a meeting with the exhibitors and has requested them to reduce the volume a tad bit in the cinemas. He also clarified that this wasn’t Devi Sri Prasad’s mistake, who is the composer of the film, but a problem with the sound mixing.
He shared in a recent media interaction, as quoted by Pinkvilla, “We spoke to all the exhibitors and requested them to reduce the volume by two points to nullify the negative feedback related to loudness. It is not DSP’s mistake; the loudness is due to sound mixing, and it will be corrected by tonight’s show.”
Previously, Oscar-winner sound designer Resul Pookutty shared a social media post saying he was disheartened by such comments and said that it was their artistry that was caught up in the “loudness war.” “A friend of mine, a re-recording mixer send me this clip…. It is disheartening to see a review about sound in our popular films like this. Our craft and artistry caught up in the loudness war… who is to blame?! The sound guy?! or the innumerable fixes comes at the last moment to satiate all insecurities. High time our fraternity to put your foot down and say things loud and clear. No film will have a repeat value if the audience walk out with head ache!” he shared along with a picture of Suriya which read that the film was getting a lot of criticism because of its loud sound.
