Idly Kadai Box Office Collection Day 3: After a solid start at the box office, Dhanush’s latest directorial venture Idly Kadai continued its steady run by collecting Rs 5.5 crore on its third day, according to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk. This brings the film’s total domestic net collection to Rs 26.25 crore. While the slice-of-life drama has clearly outperformed Dhanush’s last directorial outing, Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam, which crashed at the box office with just Rs 8.09 crore. However, it is currently trailing behind his 2024 hit Raayan. That action-packed entertainer had amassed Rs 42.65 crore within its first three days, setting a significantly higher benchmark. In terms of occupancy, Idly Kadai registered an overall Tamil occupancy rate of 35.96% on its third day. The day began slowly, with morning shows seeing 16.76% occupancy, but momentum picked up in the afternoon (38.67%), continued rising in the evening (40.32%), and peaked during night shows with 48.09%. Among the regions, Chennai led both in the number of shows (455) and occupancy, clocking a strong 47.75%. However, in the broader landscape of Tamil cinema in 2024, Idly Kadai still has a long way to go. When measured against top-grossing films like Rajinikanth’s Coolie (Rs 285 cr), Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad and Ugly (Rs 154 cr), its earnings remain comparatively modest.
