Grand launch of Bigg Boss Tamil 8 to happen this October, Vijay Sethupathi takes on hosting duties

Comparisons to previous host Kamal Haasan will be par for the course, and all eyes will be on Vijay Sethupathi to see if he steps into the really big shoes with comfort.

Since its inception, the one constant of Bigg Boss Tamil has been host Kamal Haasan. However, the latest season is set to see a major upheaval with Vijay Sethupathi replacing the legendary actor-filmmaker after the latter decided to take a break from hosting duties. With Sethupathi at the helm, the makers of the successful reality show have an opportunity to reboot, and revamp the format to allow the casual nonchalance of the new host to seep in through this season. The makers of the show announced that the eighth season, which will air on Vijay TV, will be launched on October 6.

From the promos that have been released so far, it is clear that the makers and Vijay Sethupathi are planning to bring to the show a new look and flavour. Comparisons to previous host Kamal Haasan will be par for the course, and all eyes will be on Sethupathi to see if he steps into the really big shoes with comfort.

As always speculations about the possible entrants into the show are running wild, and social media is abuzz with expectations from the reality show. Some of the names doing the rounds include Manimegalai, Shaalin Zoya, RJ Ananthi, VTV Ganesh, and more. Till the launch on October 6, all of these would just remain speculations because we have seen in earlier seasons how many of the names that were hugely anticipated never made it to the show. Interestingly, Bigg Boss 18, the Hindi version of the show, which is hosted by Salman Khan, will premiere on October 5.

Nevertheless, we have seen fortunes change for many contestants of the previous editions of Bigg Boss, and every entrant into the BB house would harbour starry aspirations. While title winners are celebrated for their success, we have also seen contestants who don’t even make the finals walk away with lot more accolades and opportunities. With just a couple of weeks left for the newest edition of Bigg Boss Tamil, it would be interesting to see the motley group entering the house, and how Vijay Sethupathi shepherds them for the next 100-odd days.
