The Greatest of All Time, better known as GOAT, released in theatres on Thursday, September 5. In Tamil Nadu, the first show of the film was held at 9 am on the first day. The makers have gotten special permission for the show. However, Karnataka and Kerala also had early morning shows. The film is not getting a release in Hindi.
Goat is attracting more attention than any of Vijay’s other films primarily because it is one of his last films. Vijay had previously said that he will move away from movies after he starts his political career. While the plot has been kept under wraps, creative producer Archana Kalpathi shared some hints with Variety and said, “There’s a mission that goes wrong, and then after many years, it comes back to haunt them, and [we see] how they solve the issue.” Archana also revealed to the publication that GOAT will be releasing in 5,000 screens in India in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, GOAT is expected to get a Rs 100 crore+ opening at the worldwide box office and has already earned over Rs 60 crore in pre-sales. Both the makers and fans can finally heave a sigh of relief as director Venkat Prabhu’s sci-fi action film The Greatest of All Time (GOAT), featuring “Thalapathy” Vijay, has received government approval for a special release day screening. According to the government order, Tamil Nadu theatres have been allowed to hold five showings of the Vijay film on its release day, with the first show starting at 9 am and the last concluding at 2 am.
