GOAT box office collection Day 7: As expected, Vijay’s latest actioner The Greatest of All Time (GOAT), has witnessed a drop in box office revenue. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the film slipped to single digit collections on the first Wednesday itself. GOAT has consistently recorded a dip in collections after a good extended weekend debut, as the mixed audience reception is now coming into play.

GOAT minted Rs 8 cr on Wednesday according to industry tracker Sacnilk, taking its all-India collections to Rs 170.75 cr. The film, which features Vijay in a double role, had the best opening of the year for a Tamil title, with Rs 44 cr on day one. But failed to register any growth over the weekend.

Despite this, GOAT has emerged as the highest grossing Tamil film of 2024, as the previous biggies, the Kamal Haasan-starrer Indian 2, had bombed at the box office. GOAT is likely to maintain similar figures on Thursday, and then would hope to record some growth over the weekend, which is a must for the film if it wants to conclude its run with a respectable total.

As of now, GOAT is will comfortably cross the all-India nett collections of Ponniyin Selvan 2 in the next two days. The Mani Ratnam film had netted Rs 181.96 cr, and GOAT will surpass that as well as its global gross, which stood at Rs 344 cr. GOAT has so far minted over Rs 325 cr worldwide.

GOAT has broken lifetime records of four of Vijay’s last five movies. In terms of worldwide gross, GOAT has overtaken Bigil (Rs 295 cr), Master (Rs 223 cr) Beast (Rs 216 cr) and Varisu, which grossed Rs 297 cr. The only film GOAT will not be able to outdo at the box office is Vijay-Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Leo. That being said, the movie cost more than Rs 300 crore to produce, according to reports.

Released last year, Leo smashed records as it netted an impressive all-India collection of Rs 341 cr and a global gross of Rs 605 cr. These numbers are now out of the picture for GOAT. The movie also trails heavy weights like Kamal Hassan’s Vikram, which had ended its global run at Rs 414 cr, Ponniyin Selvan 1 (Rs 488 cr), Rajinikanth’s Jailer (Rs 604 cr), Leo, and Shankar’s 2.0, which stands at Rs 723 cr.
