GOAT box office collection Day 3: Vijay film witness a slight surge; breaches Rs 100 crore mark domestically
GOAT box office collection day 3: After witnessing a 43% drop on the second day of its release, the film had a 29.4 % surge to earn Rs 33 crore, and breach the Rs 100 crore mark in the domestic market.

Vijay’s latest film, GOAT, directed by Venkat Prabhu, garnered Rs 44 crore on Thursday, but faced a significant drop to Rs 25.5 crore on Friday. However, things seem to be picking up during the weekend as the film amassed Rs 33 crore on Saturday to take the total to an impressive Rs 102.5 crore. Vijay seems to strike box-office gold with every film of his, and GOAT is no different as it is already making big numbers at the global box-office too. AGS Entertainment, which has backed the movie, had earlier announced that the film entered the Rs 100 crore club on Day 1 itself with the film earning Rs 126.4 crore globally. The film is primed to breach the Rs 300 crore mark by the end of its first weekend run.

Impressively, on day 3, the Hindi version of the film, titled Thalapathy is the GOAT, did considerably better. In fact, Saturday’s collections surpassed the opening day numbers. The Telugu version is holding strong too, and as expected, the Tamil numbers are back on track too. One of the major factors for the drop in numbers is definitely the reception in the primary centres in Kerala, which has died down after the initial surge. This has come as a shocker considering how Kerala has been an important market for Vijay’s films with his previous release, Leo, breaking new records in the state. Nevertheless, with Tamil Nadu still holding really strong, and no other films releasing for the next couple of weeks, GOAT will have a smooth run, and might become one of the biggest successes of Vijay. It is expected that the film would become the second biggest grosser in his career after Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
GOAT, which also stars Prashanth, Sneha, Laila, Mohan, Ajmal, Prabhudeva, and Yogi Babu, has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, but seems to have found a lot of love among the ardent fans of Vijay. The film, with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni, is expected to be the penultimate film in Vijay’s career before he bids adieu to cinema to concentrate on his political career.
