With less than two weeks to go until the release of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay-starrer Leo, fans are thrilled by the recently dropped trailer as it promises to fulfil their expectations and dreams.

The trailer offers a blend of high-energy action sequences and elements of family drama, which is precisely what Vijay’s dedicated fans had been hoping for, especially after the cancellation of last month’s audio launch event.

Bankrolled by Seven Screen Studio, the actioner also stars Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan, Mysskin, Mathew Thomas, Priya Anand and Babu Antony, among others.

While anticipation for the film is high, there are also rumours and speculations making the rounds. Meanwhile, Leo producer SS Lalit Kumar recently addressed several of these rumours and responded to fans’ burning questions during a live Twitter Space session.

Kumar mentioned that Vijay had the chance to watch the trailer on Monday and expressed genuine appreciation for it. The producer firmly stated that every single scene in Leo will showcase Vijay’s exceptional acting skills.

He also addressed and dismissed rumours suggesting any discord between Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj. Kumar emphasised the tremendous dedication and effort that the director invested in the movie.

Regarding the sequences shot in Kashmir, SS Lalit Kumar recalled that they were the most demanding. He remembered how, when they commenced filming, the temperature in Kashmir was a bone-chilling -22 degrees Celsius. Kumar added that they filmed there for 51 days, with the entire team, from top to bottom, putting in their utmost dedication and hard work throughout this period.

Emphasising that Leo is suitable for family viewing, he assured that it will cater to a wide range of audiences. “If the trailer is so fulfilling, just imagine how great the full picture will be,” he noted.

While national multiplexes in the North won’t screen the film, Kumar clarified that it will be released in over 2,000 single-screen cinemas across North India. He noted that although there are no scheduled premieres, the team has made a formal request to the state government for 4 am screenings on October 19. He expressed confidence in obtaining the necessary permission.

Regarding Leo’s certification process, Kumar mentioned that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recommended only minimal edits for the movie. The producer also revealed that this film will mark Vijay’s debut in the IMAX version.

SS Lalit Kumar disclosed that the movie will premiere on an extensive global scale, spanning between 25,000 to 30,000 screens. He also mentioned that it’s expected that advance bookings for the film in Tamil Nadu will kick off on October 15. Furthermore, Kumar indicated that there are plans for the film to be released in Bangladesh.

During the session, when a participant enquired whether Leo was connected to the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), the producer encouraged the viewers to watch the film to find out. He mentioned that they’ve intentionally kept it a secret, and audiences will discover the answer when they watch the movie.

Highlighting that the release date had been confirmed a year and a half ago, right when the film’s production began, Kumar noted that this move was a gamble. However, he said they successfully adhered to all the set deadlines. The producer explained that they completed the filming as scheduled in June and allocated ample time for post-production tasks, all of which were completed within the stipulated timeframe. “The only setback occurred concerning the issuance of the censor certificate, which experienced a one-week delay. Apart from that, there were no other production delays,” he added.

Stating that Vijay was deeply disappointed when the audio launch event got cancelled, Kumar remarked, “He is someone who holds his fans in high regard. He has provided explicit instructions to ensure that no screenings are cancelled anywhere on the release day.”

SS Lalit Kumar mentioned that the background music for the first half of the film is ready and that Anirudh Ravichander is currently working on the latter half. He said they are targeting to finish all the remaining works by October 10. Additionally, Kumar revealed that the third single, a family-oriented song from the album, is scheduled for release on forthcoming Monday.
