Despite being 72 years old, superstar Rajinikanth remains as occupied as any young actor. After his last appearance in the 2021 action film Annaatthe, Rajini is currently working on two movies simultaneously. The first one, titled Jailer and directed by Nelson, will have him as the central character, while in the second film, Lal Salaam directed by Rajini's daughter Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth, he will make an extended cameo appearance. After videos showing Rajinikanth being surrounded by his enthusiastic fans in Puducherry while shooting for Lal Salaam went viral on social media, Aishwaryaa recently shared a behind-the-scenes moment from the film's set. In the image, the filmmaker is seen giving instructions to Rajini during the filming of a scene. The director also shared an Instagram story showing her working tirelessly on the sets of Lal Salaam. Two weeks back, the director had shared another set of pictures from the film's set showing her with Rajinikanth, former cricketer Kapil Dev and other cast and crew members. Along with the Tamil superstar, the former Indian skipper will also make a cameo appearance in the film. "#lalsalaam moideen bhai ! And off we go to our next schedule, kudos team and @therealkapildev sir you are a darling 🫡 see you soon ! #thankfulgratefulblessed," Aishwaryaa wrote sharing the pictures. It was Rajini himself who last month announced that Kapil Dev would make a cameo appearance in the film. “It is my honour and privilege working with the Legendary, most respected and wonderful human being Kapildevji., who made India proud winning for the first time ever..Cricket World Cup!!! #lalsalaam #therealkapildev,” the Tamil superstar wrote on Instagram. Starring Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles, the songs for Lal Salaam are being composed by Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman. The makers are aiming to release the film theatrically later this year.
