Amala Akkineni, who made her digital debut with the web series High Priestess this year, is all set to make her comeback in Kollywood. The senior actor will star in the untitled Tamil-Telugu bilingual, featuring Sharwanand and Ritu Varma in the lead roles. Directed by debutant Shree Karthik, known for his short films Vyugam and Childhood Diaries, the shooting of the film is underway in Hyderabad. A source tells indianexpress.com, "Amala will play Sharwanand’s mom and is paired opposite Ravi Raghavendra, father of Anirudh Ravichander. She loved her character and agreed to be a part of the film." Also starring Nasser, Sathish and Ramesh Tilak in pivotal roles, this movie, which was originally written for Vijay Deverakonda, will hit the screens next year. This yet-to-be-titled film is bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures. Amala Akkineni's last Tamil movie was Karpoora Mullai (1991). She was also seen in Dulquer Salmaan's Karwaan in 2018. As for Sharwanand, his last project in Tamil was Cheran's JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai.
