Ajith Kumar gets mobbed at Chennai airport; hospitalised after suffering leg injury: report
The incident happened on Tuesday when Ajith Kumar was returning from New Delhi after receiving the Padma Bhushan award.

Tamil star Ajith Kumar has reportedly been hospitalised after suffering an injury at the Chennai airport. The incident happened on Tuesday when he was returning from New Delhi after receiving the Padma Bhushan award. At the Chennai airport, he was welcomed by a large crowd of ecstatic fans. As the excitement level went up, the actor ended up getting mobbed, causing a minor injury to his leg, following which he was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai on Wednesday.
“Ajith Kumar sir suffered a small injury in his leg when he was mobbed by a huge crowd at the Chennai airport. Hence, he had to be admitted for physiotherapy. The actor is likely to be discharged this evening. There’s nothing to worry about his health,” India Today quoted a source as saying.
Ajith Kumar, along with other Padma recipients like Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, musician Ricky Kej, and late singer Pankaj Udhas, was presented with the Padma Bhushan award by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Monday. His wife, Shalini Ajith, daughter Anoushka and son Aadvik were present on the occasion when the Tamil star received the third-highest civilian award in the country.

“I’m still a plain middle-class person at heart, and it feels so surreal to be here and experiencing all these emotions. I’m happy and overwhelmed,” he said during an interview following the ceremony. Ajith added: “At first, I was overwhelmed, but I believe moments like these inspire you – or at least reassure you – that you’re on the right path and should continue doing what you’ve been doing all these years. I feel I’m on the right track, so I focus on my work, stick to my work ethic, and move forward.”

Although Ajith Kumar commenced 2025 on a disappointing note with his Vidaamuyarchi, helmed by Magizh Thirumeni, underperforming at the box office, he made a massive comeback earlier this month. Not just that his Good Bad Ugly, helmed by Adhik Ravichandran, has turned out to be a smashing hit, grossing Rs 243.35 crore worldwide, the movie has also emerged as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2025.
