Kalaiyarasan, reportedly, plays the role of an army man in Airaa and will be sharing a considerable amount of screen space with Nayanthara. "I am an army veteran in his late thirties, who is calm-headed and has a mature understanding of the situations around him. Most of my scenes will be with Nayanthara’s character Bhavani," the actor had told The Hindu in an interview.
Apart from Nayanthara and Kalaiyarasan, Airaa also features Yogi Babu, Jayaprakash, Meera Krishnan, Master Ashwanth and Kalaipulli Leela among others in significant roles. The movie has been produced by Kotapadi J Rajesh with music by Sundaramurthy K.S.
Airaa is a full-on Nayanthara show with a great idea, not-so-great execution. The film, of course, has an interesting premise, which ‘Lady Superstar’ nails it, both in terms of style and performance.

"Nayanthara plays a dual role in Airaa for the first time. There are no connections between two different characters. Airaa is going to be a different experience," director KM Sarjun earlier said at the film's press meet in Chennai.
"Every day people ask me why I didn't do a film like Madras. Sarjun and I were supposed to work on Echarikkai Idhu Manidhargal Nadamadum Idam. Airaa will be an important film in my career. Besides horror angle, there is an emotional angle in the film," said actor Kalaiyarasan at the press meet of the film.
Apart from releasing in India, Nayanthara starrer Airaa has hit screens overseas. Producer KJR Studios revealed that the film has already released in the US and Canada on March 27. While in Singapore, UK, Sri Lanka, Australia, Hong Kong, Europe, UAE and GCC, Nayanthara fans can watch the film from March 28 onwards.
Airaa writer Priyanka Ravindran calls the film a beautiful journey. Ahead of the release, she tweeted, "From writing “Scene 1, Ext, Road” to typing “???? ????? ???????????” #Airaa‘s journey has been painfully beautiful..."

Nayanthara starrer Airaa has hit 1400 screens worldwide today.
