With Viduthalai, Garudan, and the upcoming Kottukkaali, Soori has achieved the rare distinction of a successful comedian turning into a commercially viable hero The actor, who also has Vetri Maaran’s Viduthalai Part-2 under production, has signed his next. Backed by K Kumar’s Lark Studios, which also backed RS Durai Senthilkumar's Garudan, this project is set to be helmed by director Prasanth Pandiyaraj. The filmmaker is known for making Vilangu, one of the finest web series in Tamil. This film will be directed by Vilangu-fame Prasanth Pandiyaraj. We will always want to receive your love and encouragement.” Prasanth, who made a decent debut with GV Prakash Kumar’s Bruce Lee, has multiple films stuck in various stages of development, but struck gold with Vilangu. With season 2 of the series, headlined by Vemal, currently in the works, it is happy times for Prasanth. Backed by Sivakarthikeyan Productions, this is the sophomore film of Vinothraj, who made a stellar debut with Koozhangal, which was India’s official entry to the Academy Awards. Apart from Soori, Kottukkaali stars Anna Ben in her Tamil debut. With every week having multiple releases resulting in clashes at the box-office, August 23 is no different with Kottukkaali releasing alongside Mari Selvaraj’s much-awaited Vaazhai.
