Actor Cool Suresh apologises for forcing garland on woman event host at Sarakku audio launch

Cool Suresh claimed that he did it to felicitate her as she was doing a great job of hosting the event, but the anchor looked upset by his actions.

Actor Cool Suresh, known for his over-the-top acts during film promotions, forced a garland on the host of the Sarakku audio launch, leading to severe backlash. The actor, while speaking at the event, took everyone by surprise by forcing the garland on the woman, who was standing beside him. While he claimed it was an act of appreciation, the anchor looked visibly upset. Later, when actor Mansoor Ali Khan went on stage, he apologised for Cool Suresh’s actions and also asked him to issue an unconditional apology.

Cool Suresh said, “Ever since the event started, we both were having friendly conversations.” Mansoor Ali Khan cut him and said, “Whatever it might be, what you did was wrong.” Cool Suresh later apologised on stage. However, he is facing severe backlash online with a few calling his act harassment.

Many users also lashed out at the people who hooted and clapped for Cool Suresh’s behaviour. “It’s evident that what he did to the young woman on stage is unquestionably abusive. Producers should refrain from hiring him for promotional events and appearances,” one user tweeted.

The actor has now come forward with an apology for his behaviour calling it a honest mistake. “I did it thinking that it would be funny. Only later I realised it is wrong to put garland on a woman like that. Normally, I try to bring in some fun in all the events I am part of. Even yesterday, I did it with such intention, but it turned out badly. Everyone is talking about it on social media. I am embarrassed that it has become something that people frown upon. I don’t know her name, but I unconditionally apologise to her.”

He added, “Mansoor Ali Khan sir has nothing to do with my actions. I take complete responsibility. I was socialising in a friendly manner with the anchor before the event. We even danced together to music. So, I assumed she was pretty jovial and thought she would take it as fun. But she reacted differently, and I was embarrassed by it. You all see me as this fool who does some silly acts. But now, I didn’t expect one such act would affect a woman. Since I couldn’t do well in films, I started promoting films and all these acts for survival. I apologise to everyone for my actions. I shouldn’t have done it.”

Cool Suresh is hired by film producers to promote their films on the release day. Based on the film’s content, Cool Suresh puts up clownish acts in theatres creating a buzz for the film. The actor, who has been part of films like Kaakha Kaakha, Machi, and Kadhal Azhivathillai, claims to be an ardent fan of Silambarasan. He shot to fame by promoting Simbu’s Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu (2022).
