Confirming reports that Ayesha Kapur has been signed for a three film deal with Yash Raj Films, Rafiq Ganjee, Vice President, Marketing & Communications of YRF said, “Yes, Ayesha Kapur has been signed by us and is being groomed for a lead role in a YRF film. Her first project though has not been finalised and anything at this stage would be mere conjecture.”
Kapur is best remembered for playing the young deaf, mute and blind Rani Mukerji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black inspired by Helen Keller’s life. The then 10 year-old received unanimous praise for the role, and quickly became the recipient of many awards. Kapur also played a pivotal role of a Muslim teenager in Piyush Jha’s Sikandar and was also one of the two finalists for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s folktale, Mirziyan.
